Last month’s blog began with me mired in the mud of “same old . . . same old” – clueless about what to do next. Thankfully, I stumbled onto the idea of making some Council (or Ally) cards to hold the kind of energy I was desperately needing: Wisdom and Passion.
Imaging Balance In Mind, Spirit and Heart
For my mind and spirit, I fashioned Coyote, the Native American Trickster who somehow fits his wise stories about how the Universe works into the form of a story of misadventure, or a joke on someone too full of himself (which could be Coyote himself).
For my heart, I chose Aphrodite. With her energy on board, I was hoping to feel passionate about my work again. Finding my Allies helped me focus on the energetic qualities I needed to cultivate.
The Rest Of My Story
What happened next was that I came across a current article that made my heart skip a beat: I saw a full-page photo of the Camino de Santiago, a centuries-old Christian pilgrim path through France and Spain. That’s what I was longing for: a meaningful path forward. I wanted to be filled with purpose and joy again. I needed to believe in myself and in my mission – to have direction again. So, that photo and the one of a lonesome wolf on a cliff, that ended the article, combined to become my next card.
I Am One Who longs to see her path clearly before her. I Am One Who envisions herself walking forward, with confidence, fueled by her inner passion.
I went back to the magazine and read about the Camino de Santiago. Frequently walked in times of transition, it is said to have helped many people find themselves. The author of the article reports: “In New York City, where I live, I often felt that my heart was spread so thin that I wasn’t feeling much of anything. But there on the cliffs . . . my heart swelled and then hurt.”
Yes! He had put his finger exactly on it: I wanted to feel my heart “swell and then hurt.” That was the energy I wanted to fuel my life.

Fueled By Inner Passion
My next step was to create a card showing the physical energy of “breaking through.” When I don’t know how to do something yet, I call in the elements – earth, wind, fire or water — to make it happen. In this case, I found a roaring waterfall and someone emerging from the earth. I also created a “safe area” to hold the transformed energy.
I Am One Who breaks through my barriers and goes for the gold. I Am One Who, fueled by her passion, can reach beyond what seems possible, to do what she came here to do.
Even though I still don’t know how this change will show up, I do know, in my heart, how it will FEEL. And by focusing on this feeling — and by taking my own steps toward it every day — I know I will be able to attract what wants to come into my life.

Healing Through Creativity
Again, I went back to my deck and pulled out an old card – the one that was singing to me. This is the very card I created back in 2008 as a “remedy” to my “Stuck in the Mud” card. This precious card still holds the energy of “healing through creativity” that thrills and engages me more than anything else possibly could. It’s called:
My New Place
I Am One Who lives in a new place full of light and song and color. I Am One Who creates a circle of like-minded others, a place where they can bloom and grow.
I Am One Who isn’t afraid to get wet, who sings in a full-throated way. I Am One Who is guided by Spirit in all things.
From SoulCollage® Card To Reality
Now that I look back — yes, I did indeed find “my new place” back in 2008. I found a new way to do my publishing business AND I took on the challenge of facilitating my own SoulCollage® groups. (Lots of learning and growing!) I can see that the women in my core SoulCollage® group, without exception, have truly bloomed and grown, and continue to do so.

This work with my SoulCollage® cards and talking about them in these two last blogs has constructed for me an energetic puzzle of Allies, passion, wisdom, breaking through and love. Hmmm. Perhaps I will expand my service to groups of creative, like-minded others. Perhaps I will refashion my publishing business once again as well. Hmmm. Time will tell.
