Sometimes, disturbing things happen to those to whom I am very close, like my grown daughters. I love them so much! I want to do everything I can for them. I still long to “fix” everything for them, as I tried to do when they were young. Yet, they are grown women now. And I remember how I felt when I was a grown woman and my mother tried to fix things for me!

No. I can’t go there. But what can I do?

Ask My SoulCollage® Cards

I’ve been making SoulCollage® cards since 2006. I’ve made cards in small groups, alone, at conferences, when I didn’t have a clue what I needed, and when I had a very clear idea what I needed.

I trust my cards.

I may not always understand them, but I know they’ve come to help me expand my understanding of myself and my life.

An Impromptu Card Reading

So, on this particular day, when I was troubled by a problem one of my very dear daughters, and her husband, are grappling with, I drew some cards.

They will soon have an important choice to make that will affect their financial stability. Neither choice is a clearly good choice; however, a choice must be made. One choice is bad, but known. The other is potentially disastrous — or good — or anywhere in between – and who knows which way the wind will fly!

Mother’s White Horse

Me? I want to figure it out, ride in on a white horse with the right answer and save the day. (Of course, assuming they’ll listen to me.)

Thankfully, my SoulCollage® cards quickly correct my course of action.

The first thing I’m looking for, naturally, is the “right” answer. So I draw three cards for each choice. The spreads show two “good” cards and a third card that’s potentially disastrous in both cases. I draw a fourth card for each possibility. More ambiguity.

Finding My Laser Beam Questions

Then I decide to ask a more fruitful set of questions:

  • What should my role in this be?
  • What can I do?
  • What can I learn?

Could it be that our cards are supposed to speak to us and answer our questions? At any rate, here’s what I learned.

(1) My role is to hold the knowledge that there’s a big picture, a larger plan that we humans probably won’t see until much later.

Overview

I Am One Who stands in her power, surveying the whole, big picture. I Am One Who observes the grooves our lives make in the record of history — the Wheel of Fate, spinning in its continuous way. I Am One Who knows there is a Power in the Universe who watches over all of us with incredible love in its heart.

(2) What I can do is pray for my daughter and her husband and pray for their safe passage through this life trial.

Isis

I Am One Who fervently prays for the best and highest good for all the people involved in this action, and for the right distribution of the resources that sustain them. I Am One Who knows with all my heart that broken pieces can always be reassembled to create new life.

(3) What I can learn from this experience is how to be a good guardian to those I love.

Guardian

I Am One Who watches over you and reminds you to stand up for yourself when you forget to be fully in your power. I Am One Who is plugged into the power of the Universe and radiates it to you. I Am One Who always has your back.

Infinite Gratitude

As always, I send great gratitude to the Voice of my Cards and to the creative process we use to create them. I am grateful beyond measure to the artists and photographers who create the images that speak to us — and to the printers and the magazines, cards and calendars they produce that bring these images to our doorsteps.

I give deep thanks to Seena Frost, naturally, who discovered SoulCollage® and, an octogenerian, has devoted much of her life to speaking and writing about the SoulCollage® process. I am also grateful to Kylea Taylor and Jim Schofield, and those who support them at Hanford Mead Publishers, Inc. and SoulCollage.com. I’m grateful that they grasped Seena’s idea, published her book, and continue to publish new books, CD’s, etc. that are helping to spread SoulCollage® across the globe.

Finally, I’m grateful to the more than 2,600 SoulCollage® Facilitators in 39 countries, who have taken the time and devotion to be trained to facilitate SoulCollage® workshops, and to everyone who has ever had the courage to “try something new” — creating their own SoulCollage® card and finding value in it for themselves.
