I know! I know! It’s easy to forget that “everything begins with energy” – even when you’ve written a book about it! (See Craft Your Wholeness, which is all about how energy works and how to create SoulCollage® cards to shift your energy.)

Sinking Into Energetic Quicksand

So, here I am again: stuck in the mud! I feel like I’m sinking into a dead-in-the-water place where my career and my routine are the “same old . . . same old.” I’m watching my passion for what I used to love slowly drain away. Part of me knows something needs to shift. But another part of me is afraid to change anything. Meanwhile, I am slowly sinking into energetic quicksand.

Ann's card draw for reviving her business passionHmmm . . . “sinking into energetic quicksand.” That sounds familiar! I remember an image I created about a very similar situation seven years ago. It fits SO exactly how I feel again, right now! I go and pull it out of my deck:

Stuck in the Mud

I Am One Who is stuck in the mud after all the aliveness has moved away. I Am One Who feels alone and mired in the past. Everything interesting is swimming away, but my gaze is fixed on the way things have always been.

So, here I am again: Business is slow. Self-doubt is rearing its ugly head. Have I lost interest in the business I run? Am I still of value to my clients? Should I abandon the field? Cultivate a different career? Truthfully, I have no idea what I want or where should I put my attention.

Create Energetic Allies

But then I’m remembering: I can create an ally who DOES know, energetically, what I need. Seena Frost would call this a “Council” card. (See SoulCollage® Evolving by Seena Frost to learn more about Council cards.) When energy-shifting is just what the doctor orders, look to archetypal figures, like the Gods and Goddesses, Heroes, Cultural Icons, for inspiration. Make a card of the one you’re drawn to; then do the research. Chances are, you’ve chosen the perfect one! And you can use this ally to hold the energy you need — for you — while you take your time studying new behaviors and learning to take it all in.

Ann's Coyote SoulCollage® card drawn for business adviceRemembering the Council cards and what they do, I have an urgent need to make a “Coyote” card. I know Coyote is a Native American Trickster, but when I research him afterwards, I find out he is just the energy I need:

Coyote (Wisdom & Laughter)

I Am One Who will sneak up behind you and trick you with my shape-shifting magic. I Am One Who brings you wisdom in unexpected ways. I Am One Who understands the patterns of the Universe and teaches them to you in the form of a story with an unexpected ending, in the form of a joke – and sometimes the joke is on me!

“Medicine” For The Tired Heart

But wait! Coyote is about the mind and the spirit. My heart also needs some new energy – a big dose of good, old fashioned Passion!

Ann's "Aphrodite" card providing business wisdom and adviceThis next ally is easy to find, because I’ll be teaching a class soon on two ancient goddesses, the Norse Freya and the Greek Aphrodite. Both of these ladies were lovers of beauty (like me), plus they were irresistible and had boundless passion – the very thing I so desperately need!

I Am One to whom the world is attracted. I Am One Who lives a life of unrepentant sensuality and beauty, and who embodies unrestrained passion for loving what I love, being alive and being ME!

I’m normally a pretty reserved gal, so that’s lot for me to take in! Actually, it’s too much for me to take in right now. But Aphrodite can hold the full power of attraction and passionate caring, for me, while I get used to the idea. I need her to do that for me – and she will!

I have a chair rail in my bedroom that I use for my “hot” cards – the ones I make that are still “working on me.” I feel a twinge when I look at them. They are not yet in my comfort zone. They make me feel uneasy. But they remind me of my intentions. They work on me. How long does it take? Sometimes, it takes a few weeks . . . usually, a few months . . . occasionally, the better part of a year. It takes as long as it takes. And I’m grateful there is no rush.

My new Ally cards, Coyote and Aphrodite, are on my chair rail now, working for me, waiting for me to be ready to fully embrace their energy as best I can. It will happen when it happens – usually, gradually. When a card has done its work, I feel a release; I thank the card and put it away in my deck — perhaps to be pulled out seven years later . . . when it is needed again!
